The heart of our ministry
Those who come to Agape House to serve form the heart of our ministry. They take on roles in many areas, offering gentle guidance, a strong arm when needed, a laugh when there have been too few, a shoulder for crying on, and a heart that extends God’s unconditional love. Chances are your skills and passions will make a difference in the lives of our students.
Opportunities to serve
Mentors
Mentors work closely to form a one-on-one bond with a student. They offer the guidance a mentee needs and play a key role in helping to shepherd the adolescent through what can be some of the toughest moments of their lives. Mentors work closely with our counseling staff for support while helping with individual, family, and sibling counseling sessions.
Tutors
Tutors work alongside the teaching staff to assist students as they complete their academic studies. Many of our tutors are retired teachers who have a heart for academic nurturing.
Enrichment Teachers
Enrichment teachers take on roles of teaching elective classes such as art, physical education, home economics, and more. We've been blessed to be able to provide incredible experiences for students because of these amazing, diverse volunteers who share life-long skills.
Maintenance
Our buildings are often in need of exterior and interior upkeep. Maintenance volunteers often give their time to Agape House as service groups from local schools, organizations, and churches. Areas of need include lawn and landscaping care in the spring and fall, painting, and repair work.
Specialty
Specialty volunteers take on roles that support our students’ residential living and impact our overall organization. Opportunities include everything from event management to cooking to game night coordination.
