God is Love

Dear Friends:

“And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us.
God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in Him.” ~ 1 John 4:16

Being assured of God’s love sets us free to enjoy the numerous expressions of love He showers up on us each day. God loves us because His nature is love, not because we deserve His love. If we accept God’s love we will be able to return love to God as well as to others. If we cannot accept the truth that God loves us, we will be limited on how we can relate to Him. Without a clear understanding and acceptance of God’s love, we will be disoriented to Him and what He wants to do in our lives.

Please Pray:
~ for our girls and their families to deeply know God’s unconditional love for each one of them so that they might experience the peace and joy, and so much more, that God has waiting for them to experience!

Praise God:
~ for the donation of a whole hog, already processed for us, from the sale at Walworth County Fair. Thank you Plasticraft!

Blessings . . .

Train Up a Child

Dear Friends:

“Train up a child in the way he should go
[and in keeping with his individual gift or bent],
and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
~ Proverbs 22:6

This Scripture is so important for us to remember, and I especially love the emphasis about each child’s individual gift. It is with great delight that we watch our girls at Agape explore and enjoy their individual gifts, and we are blessed with many volunteers who help them to expand upon those gifts.

Another area we are grateful for our volunteers is with the lunch program. We have faithful volunteers providing lunch 4 days a week. It is a huge blessing to the girls to see God’s people who continually care about helping to meet their needs. We are in need of a few more helpers; if you feel led to help out in this way, please contact Debby at the school (262.394.5043) for more details. Some of our volunteers bring the lunch, serve it and sit with the girls. Others prepare the meal and drop it off on their way to work in the morning. Individuals provide this blessing, as well as different organizations who work together as a group to meet this need. Thank you for your consideration of this request.

Please Pray:
~ for the God-given gifts each one of our precious girls have received from God, and the joy of watching them use these gifts to their fullest potential.

~ for our staff and volunteers, and the many issues of concern each of us are dealing with, often feeling like being under attack, while continuing to serve in this ministry.

~ for our girls and their families to draw close to God, trusting Him to lead them and guide them as they go forth this year.

Praise God:
~ for your servants who meet the needs of so many people in a variety of ways; we could not do the ministry work necessary at Agape House without the help of our invaluable volunteers!

~ for God’s word and the training up of our children in the way they should go, knowing it will stay with them forever.

~ for time spent on Pleasant Lake on a recent outing. For some girls, kayaking was a new adventure! In spite of the overcast skies and cooler temperatures, the girls enjoyed themselves.

The Love of our Father

Dear Friends:

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us,
that we should be called children of God.” ~ 1 John 3:1a

What a beautiful Scripture for the girls to learn about this week as they begin a new school year! We have 10 girls in our program, including the girls in the TLH. We are happy to say that 8 of those girls are returning for a second year of program. Our experience has been that it takes at least 2 years for the girls to truly grasp how much God loves and cares for us, and to recognize that He cares so much about the healing each one of us need.

Our plans for a Jr. High Home are back ‘in-process’ again; the first plan of action did not work out. We are seeking His direction once again, and are praying for His guidance. Sometimes we don’t hear clearly, but it is good to know that God can close the door for us if we take a wrong turn.

Please Pray:
~ for our girls to recognize the incredible quality of love that God has given and shown us, that we should be named and called and counted as his children.

~ for our girls to be able to focus on their school work; some girls struggle with this more than others.

~ for wisdom and discernment about the direction to go for our Jr. High Girls Home.

~ for the girls who did not return to the program, that they remember what they did learn in their time at Agape, and that His love guides them as they go forward in their lives.

Praise God:
~ for the girls who returned to our program this year, as well as the new girls who started this week; they started the week out feeling comfortable, committed and ready to work on their goals!

~ for a new look on our windows in the classrooms, thanks to Sandy Heinitz – curtains that add a lovely touch to the decor’!

~ for Tina Dillman who does all of our bulletin boards.

~ for JC Plumbing and the awesome job they did with the installation of our new HVAC system. It was no easy task to install the vents in the Sanctuary, as you can see in the picture below!

~ for Walworth Elementary School taking care of the removal of this huge, overgrown bush that was loaded with bees – it was a hazard for the children on their playground.

Dear Friends:

“Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness are blessed,
for they will be filled.” ~ Matthew 5:6.

Pursuing righteousness means that we value the opinion of God far more than we treasure the opinions of people. Righteousness is not merely an absence of sin; it is also about allowing God to fill us with His Holiness. Only Christ’s righteousness can satisfy us; but we cannot be filled with righteousness if we are filled with self.

Please Pray:
~ for Agape House as we prepare to open the doors on Sunday, September 3rd for the girls to return to the Home as we begin the new school year; pray for His spirit to flow through this ministry, and pray for the participants in our program to desire to be filled with His righteousness.

~ for our new staff at Agape House, as they prepare for this new journey, pray that they lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all their heart and mind, not relying on their own insight or understanding.

~ for the staff as we hold our In-Service meetings next week, that we will be renewed in His strength, wisdom and discernment as we move forth into a new year.

~ for Agape House as we pursue a different avenue for the Junior High Home, as we had some unresolved issues with our previous plan. We are trusting that God has a different purpose and plan, and pray that He will direct our steps accordingly for this much-needed space.

Praise God:
~ for His holy, satisfying righteousness!

~ for the donation of items on our Wish List lately: outdoor equipment and items to fill our Welcome Bags for new girls!

~ for so many volunteers who have stepped forth to help us with a multitude of tasks as we put the finishing touches on tasks that need to be completed.

Blessings to all of you. . .

Jan

Dear Friends:

God always energizes us to do what He leads us to do. It is only when we go beyond His will to follow our own wills that we are likely to get exhausted.

“But thanks be to God, who in Christ always
leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory]
and through us spreads and makes evident the
fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere,
for we are the sweet fragrance of Christ unto God,
among those who are being saved
and among those who are perishing.”
~ 2 Corinthians 2:14-15

God is so awesome – He knows our human tendency to do too much, and invites us to seek His will . . . so precious!

Please Pray:
~ for all of us to recognize that if we are exhausted, perhaps we should slow down and rest at His feet, trusting that He will provide the energy we need to do what He leads us to do.

~ for the continued installation of the HVAC system to proceed smoothly, as well as the additional work we are doing, i.e., the installation of the new framework and ceiling tile in the school tomorrow.

~ for God to bring exactly the girls and families He desires to be a part of this program in His timing.

Praise God:
~ for God’s ongoing presence and energy in our lives!

Blessings . . .

Dear Friends:

“He leads me beside the still and restful waters of life.
He refreshes and restores my life;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness.”
~ Psalm 23:2-3a

Do you ever have days when you wonder where those still and restful waters of life are at? Our lives and the lives of those around us can get very rocky at times, and it seems more like we are climbing a mountain!

I am grateful for the knowledge that God does refresh and restore our lives, and I pray that when life gets difficult, that we are all able to be led by God onto the paths of righteousness, and find the still and restful waters of life!

Please Pray:
~ for our girls and their families to find the still and restful waters of life, and trust God to refresh and restore their lives, leading them on the path of righteousness, in spite of the difficult situations they are facing. At this time, many of them are probably trying to determine if they want their daughters to come to Agape House. Let’s pray that God will direct their steps accordingly.

~ for all of our volunteers at Agape House, that God blesses them in whatever difficult situation each of them might be facing today, as He helps them to find the still and restful waters of life.

~ for the staff at Agape House, as well as all schools around the country, as we prepare for the new school year, that we will not be overwhelmed by all that we would like to get done; as we adjust from some much-needed vacation time to full-time work again.

~ for things to go smoothly when the HVAC installation takes place, as well as for the follow up work we need to do afterwards.

Praise God:
~ for those times when we do find the still and restful waters of life, as they refresh and restore our lives!

~ for the girls from Agape House who have found jobs to work at over the summer; may these jobs be the beginning of a future filled with hope, serving God!

~ for the hope of opening the Jr. High Girls’ Home next month so that our younger girls are able to enjoy being that age, without the ongoing influence of the high school girls.

~ Isaiah 41:10

I pray that you are enjoying your Summer, and that as you go forth, you are trusting God to strengthen and help you!

Dear Friends:

“Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”  ~ Psalm 37:4

God wants us to spend time in His presence; He does not expect us to work through the difficulties we have in our lives on our own. How awesome is that!

~ for our girls to enjoy their summer break, while continuing to work on their goals, which will lead them to fulfilling God’s purpose and plan for their lives.
